SD Demo - Batman Arkham Knight

Batman lives in a brutal and crime driven city, which is the impression I get whenever I play an Arkham game, so I wanted the sound to reflect that. Sounds such as the subtle crunch that can be heard when Batman kicks an enemy against an electrical fuse box or the high pitched bullets flying past him as he flies straight into the gun fire, reinforce this feeling. Other sounds I tired to use to give a sense of satisfaction when at important moments such as the rising ambience heard when Batman performs his take down that cuts when he launches his final blow to his target, or the loud shatter of glass as he throws a guard into the fuse box.

SD Demo - Ratchet & Clank (PS4)

My aim for this short audio replacement video was to support the games visuals and it's cartoon art style. A lot of sounds heard are built on musical ideas (for example the bolts play notes in the C major scale) and are intended to be a bit silly and whimsical (such as how the robots cries aren't harsh droning electrical sounds, but are vocal noises that were processed to sound robotic and metallic).

These videos will walk you through some of the ways I approach designing sound effects as well as showing some of the programmes and plug-ins I like to use. You can learn tips and tricks such as how to balance your audio, combine samples, MIDI data and field recordings together to create new and original audio and even how to produce your sounds so that they're suitable to be played back from a game engine!
